The Mayor Jose Espinosa Cup Iloilo City Invitational Basketball Tournament is set to open this weekend, April 29, at 1:00 p.m. at the La Paz District Plaza covered gym.

According to City Sports Division officer-in-charge Moises Salomon, the tournament will be divided into several categories, including inter-agency, inter-district barangay official, open, and 40-up.

“We didn’t expect to bring together a large number of participants this year,” he noted. “It only shows members of different sectors continue to support us.”

The tournament’s namesake, Iloilo City Mayor Jose Espinosa III, discussed the benefits of the tournament.

“This will help them improve their physical and technical skills,” he said. “This will also give them the chance to meet new people and friends.”/WDJ
