Iloilo City shelter home celebrates achievement day

Shelter home Balay Dalayunan: A Home for the Boys, located in the Lapuz district of Iloilo City, recently celebrated achievement day for 37 children in conflict with the law seeking shelter at the facility.

“This is the first time that Balay Dalayunan has held an achievement day,” said shelter head Elizabeth Sevilla. “While they are under the city’s custody, we give them trainings, conduct values formation activities, skills training, tutorials, sports, and check-ups.”

Awards were given out for Batang Masipag, Batang Masunurin, and Batang Maka-Diyos.

Governor Arthur Defensor, Sr. and Provincial Administrator Raul Banias together with Dr. Raymundo Lapating of the Center for Sports and Physical Fitness (CSPF) gave a welcome reception to the athletes, officials, trainers, and coaches from Iloilo province who participated in the recently concluded Palarong Pambasa 2018 at the Casa Real yesterday. The Iloilo athletes gathered a total of 105 medals — 40 gold, 38 silver, 27 bronze, and broke the records in javelin throw, high jump secondary girls, 4 x 100 meter relay secondary girls, and 4 x 50 meter swimming.
