The Office of the Civil Defense-Region VI recently conducted a disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM) training for media personnel in Iloilo City.

According to Aletha Nogra of the regional office, the training intended to inform and educate reporters, writers, and editors on DRRM in a “Philippine context,” adding it also allows for the agency to “harness the power and reach of the mass media.”

Among the subjects covered included disaster prevention and mitigation, disaster preparedness, response and rehabilitation, recovery, and the Philippine DRRM system./WDJ
