The Department of Agriculture-Agricultural Credit Policy Council (ACPC) recently released P39 million in loan funding to five cooperatives in Aklan, as part of the Production Loan Easy Access (PLEA) program.

The Libacao Development Cooperative, Lezo Multi-Purpose Cooperative, and SANDONA Development Cooperative each received a P10 million loan; Ibon Multi-Purpose Cooperative received a P5 million loan; and Madalag Multi-Purpose Cooperative received a P4 million loan.

“We would like to fast track the release of the loan to qualified farmers and fisherfolk,” said Aklan Provincial Board Members Emmanuel Dela Cruz, who chairs the committee on agriculture.

Meanwhile, Senator Cynthia Villar, who served as guest speaker for the event, said a composting facility would be provided for every barangay in the province.

“We hope to improve the waste management system in Aklan,” she explained. “With this composting facility, you can convert waste into organic fertilizers.”/WDJ
