The Philippine Information Agency recently reminded the public of the ongoing Buwan ng Kaluton Pilipino, or Filipino Food Month, which was made an annual observance by President Rodrigo Duterte, through Presidential Proclamation No. 469, signed earlier this month.

According to the proclamation, “Our vast culinary traditions and treasures should be appreciated, preserved, and promoted to ensure their transmission to future generations.”

It also calls Filipino food a part of the country’s “historical and cultural heritage.”

The National Commission for Culture and the Arts and the Department of Agriculture were designated as lead agencies for the annual observance.

During the recent Panaad sa Negros Festival, the event’s food alley/park offered many local delicacies./WDJ
