Teams from across the Visayas, including two from Panay, took home titles from the 3rd Pioneer National Bangkarera, which took place earlier this month along Villa Beach, in the Arevalo district of Iloilo City.

Team Cebu Racing won the 16-18 hp category, Team Overtime (G-Brosis) of Estancia won the 7-7.5 hp category, Team Los Niños from Ivisan won the Angat sa Dagat 18 hp and below category, and Team Adrian of Nueva Valencia won the paddleboat division.

“This tournament was designed to strengthen the camaraderie among boat racers nationwide,” said Pioneer Adhesives, Inc. group project manager Alben Manuel. “It’s also our way of giving back to all the members of their community.”

“We’re giving our local fishermen and boat makers a platform where they can showcase their skills,” he added.

A total of 58 teams and 155 boats took part in the competition, where over P1 million in cash and prizes were given out./WDJ
