The Western Visayas finished the 2018 Palarong Pambansa in third place overall, earning a total of 46 gold, 45 silver, and 55 bronze medals. The region finished in the same position last year, at the time, without the inclusion of Negros Occidental as the province was competing under the now-defunct Negros Island Region.
The National Capital Region (NCR) came in first place for the eighth straight year, picking up 100 gold, 70 silver, and 50 bronze medals; while Calabarzon came in second with 55 gold, 50 silver, and 73 bronze.
In demonstration sports, however, the Western Visayas topped the medal tally with eight gold, 11 silver, and five bronze medals. The region also dominated the Para Games, earning 16 gold, 18 silver, and 16 bronze medals.
