A suspected gun-wielding hitchhiker was arrested by Silay City police Tuesday afternoon after they flagged down the vehicle he was aboard in Barangay Rizal, Silay City.
Police identified the suspect as 21-year-old Christian Flores, a resident of Purok Baybayon in Barangay Guinhalaran of the said city.
Silay City police chief, Police Superintendent Noel Polines, said around 4:00 p.m., their station received a call from a concerned citizen saying he spotted Flores placing a .38 caliber revolver inside his sling bag before hitching a ride in a white truck.
Polines ordered personnel to intercept the vehicle, which led to Flores’ arrest.
Police recovered the .38 caliber revolver from the suspect, along with three live bullets.
Flores faces illegal possession of firearms charges, as well as violating the Commission on Elections gun ban./DGB, WDJ
