A motorcycle driver and his backrider were injured after colliding with a van Monday morning at Crossing Monumento in Barangay Santo Niño, EB Magalona, Negros Occidental.

Police identified the victims as 51-year-old Marcelo Villarubia and his son, 18-year-old Janry, both residents of Calatrava, Negros Occidental.

EB Magalona traffic investigators said Villarubia was executing a left turn at the said crossing when they were struck by a Hiace van traveling southbound, driven by 46-year-old Roul Pabeluna of Escalante City.

The father and son were rushed to the Teresita Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City, and later to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) in Bacolod City, after sustaining injuries across different parts of their bodies.

Pabeluna, meanwhile, was taken into custody./DGB, WDJ
