One Region VI school receives warning

Following recent inspections by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) National Inspectorate for Scholarship Programs (NISP), a total of 85 vocational schools nationwide were found in violation of TESDA scholarship guidelines.

According to the NISP, potential corrupt practices were exhibited by some schools.

Such practices include school with erroneous addresses, unreported changes of location, unauthorized collection of fees, among others.

In response, TESDA Director-General Guiling Mamondiong ordered the formation of a validation committee, in charge of conducting further investigations into the matter.

The NISP Project Team suggested the closure of 43 institutions and recommended the cancellation of TESDA program registration at 42 others.

According to a TESDA release, one school in Region VI was issued a warning from the agency.

Meanwhile, another 467 vocational schools are still subject to inspection.

TESDA hopes to complete inspections by the end of the month./WDJ
