A former Negros Occidental provincial board member recently began a signature campaign urging Negros Occidental third district Rep. Alfredo Benitez to run for governor in the 2019 elections.
On his social media page, Patrick Lacson said he believes a provincial government under a Benitez administration would accelerate economic development from decades to just years.
The congressman, who is said to have a reserved slot among the PDP-Laban senatorial slate, is in his last term.
Benitez has also endorsed his younger brother, Francisco Benitez, to replace him in Congress.
Lacson said he remembered how his father, former Negros Occidental Governor Daniel Lacson, led the province between the mid-80s and early 90s.
“As far as provincial economy, basic services, and our local industries, I am confident enough, that my opinion will count, on who’s to lead our province,” he said.
In addition, the former provincial official urged every Negrense to join him in asking Benitez to consider the governorship./DGB, WDJ
