Western Visayas opens girls’ volleyball competition with twin victories

The Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) secondary girls’ volleyball team opened their 2018 Palarong Pambansa campaign with two wins yesterday.

The Western Visayas squad, led by Bacolod Tay Tung High School (BTTHS) beat Soccsksargen, 22-25, 25-15, 25-16; and Cagayan Valley, 25-12 and 25-15.

In other sports, WVRAA beat Caraga, 4-0, and Cagayan Valley, 7-0, in elementary football; the Davao Region, 61-56, in elementary boys’ basketball; Northern Mindanao, 75-49, in secondary girls’ basketball; and Region 1 in secondary boys’ sepak takraw.

WVRAA also began collecting medals, with a silver medal in elementary triple jump earned by Gerevil John Gacita of Guimaras and a bronze medal in the secondary girls’ 3000 meter run by Calatrava National High School’s Grace Tejones./JSG, WDJ
