Twins Christian Jacob Yap and Christopher James Yap, two St. John’s Institute (SJI) students who recently took first place at the national finals of the 2018 Metrobank-Mathematics Teachers Association of the Philippines (MTAP) Department of Education (DepEd) Math Challenge Grade 6 team competition in Makati City, were formally commended by the Bacolod City Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP).

Following an initial 574,823 entries, a total of 48 students, representing 30 public and private schools, advanced to the national finals.

According to the SP resolution recognizing their achievement, authored by City Councilor Cindy Rojas, acknowledging their accomplishment will encourage other students to excel in their respective fields.

Prior to attending the SP session, the twins paid a courtesy visit on Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia./WDJ
