Iloilo City Mayor Jose Espinosa III recently announced barangay workers would receive a P500 increase to their honoraria, in addition to their P2,000 monthly pay.

“Our barangay-based workers are the ones who bring services to our constituents within the barangay level,” he said before a gathering of barangay health workers, barangay nutrition scholars, supplemental feeding workers, and barangay service point officers at the Jaro Gym.

The additional funding will come from the P158 million supplemental budget.

“I will also take a look at our budget for next year, so that I could again increase your honorarium,” the mayor added./WDJ
