During the recent National Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) Symposium for the Youth in Bacolod City, NAST Director Luningning Samarita-Domingo encouraged those in attendance, mainly Grade 10 through 12 students, to pursue careers in science and technology.
She noted, a career in the field would benefit the country, along with the Department of Science and Technology-Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) offering several scholarships for students interested in the industry.
“What we are really doing is to make more people, even policy makers and our officials, appreciate science and technology more and provide a good environment for scientists and researchers in our country,” Samarita-Domingo added.
Among those present to speak with the students included national scientists Angel Alcala, Mercedes Concepcion, and Raul Fabella; along with academics Dr. Jaime Montoya, Dr. Remigio Olveda, Dr. Jose Maria Balmaceda, and Dr. Agnes Rola./WDJ
