The Department of Tourism-Region VI (DOT-6) recently unveiled an intensified campaign to attract more tourists from China this year.
The DOT set a goal of 1.5 million Chinese tourists this year, a jump from last year’s total of 986,447, which accounts for an over 43 percent increase from the previous year.
DOT Secretary Wanda Tulfo-Teo credited the increase to warming relations between the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte and the Chinese government.
According to recent data, the Western Visayas has already seen a nearly 30 percent increase in arrivals from China this year./WDJ
