A late Tuesday evening City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) buy-bust at Purok Rosas in Barangay 33, Bacolod City yielded around P3.75 million worth of shabu.
Arrested in the operation was 35-year-old Jeffrey Virgel, a resident of Purok Chereza 2 in the city’s Barangay 27. He was also tagged by the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) as a high-value drug target.
CDEU team leader, Police Inspector Adrian James Albaytar, said Virgel has been imprisoned several times before on drug-related charges.
He said the suspect has been in the illegal drugs business for more than 10 years and managed to gained access to imprisoned drug lords while earlier serving a three-year prison sentence.
Virgel tried to elude police after learning he was dealing with an undercover operative.
When questioned by police, Virgel stated his supply came from San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.
Police recovered a total of 19 sachets of suspected shabu, weighing 350 grams.
Virgel is presently facing illegal drugs charges and is detained at Police Station 6./DGB, WDJ
