The acting provincial prosecutor of Negros Occidental revealed they found reasonable grounds to charge Moises Padilla Vice Mayor Ella Garcia-Yulo and her husband, Felix Mathias Segundo Yulo, for illegal possession of firearms and explosives, following their arrest last December at a police checkpoint in town.
Based on resolutions signed by acting Provincial Prosecutor Rodrigo Diaz last week, the decision was based on sworn statements and other evidence presented by Moises Padilla Police Station personnel, which was then led by Police Senior Inspector Allan Reloj.
Diaz also said the accused were informed of the said charges and were told to submit contrary evidence.
For the charges of illegal possession of firearms, Diaz recommended bail at P200,000 each, while the charges of illegal possession of explosives were non-bailable.
Both the vice mayor and her husband have since surrendered and posted bail, amounting to P12,000 each, before the La Carlota City Police Station last week, after an arrest warrant was issued against them on charges of direct assault upon a person in authority./DGB, WDJ
