Bohol’s most wanted fell to police Monday morning after his whereabouts were traced to Sitio Balikbalik in Barangay Calubang, Ilog by the Regional Intelligence Unit-VI (RIU-6) and municipal police.
Police identified the suspect as 47-year-old Apolinar Galapin, a resident of the said barangay and a native of Bohol.
Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) spokesperson, Police Inspector Charmae De Paz, said Galapin was formerly police officer assigned to Cortes, Bohol.
In 2008, Galapin was reportedly drunk and had an altercation with 29-year-old Leo Lagrada, the officer reportedly shot the latter dead outside the Cortes Municipal Police Station.
Galapin fled and ended up Negros Occidental.
De Paz said the Tagbilaran City Regional Trial Court-Branch 48 issued a warrant for his arrest in 2008 for the crime of murder, with a bounty of P140,000 also offered by Police Regional Office-7 (PRO-7) for his capture.
Galapin is presently detained at the Ilog Municipal Police Station and being prepared to be transported back to Bohol to face trial./DGB, WDJ
