The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) yesterday recorded two small earthquakes in the southern part of Negros.
Based on data by Phivolcs, the first tremor was recorded around 2:39 a.m. with a magnitude of 2.7.
The quake’s epicenter was recorded 10 kilometers west of Sipalay City.
Approximately 15 hours later, another small tremor, with a magnitude of 2.4, was recorded one kilometer west of Hinoba-an.
Phivolcs added, both quakes were tectonic in origin and are not expected to create any aftershocks or damage.
Last month, Phivolcs identified several new fault lines in Negros island, which could trigger earthquakes./DGB, WDJ
