Kabankalan City Councilor Jeanna Cordova confirmed over the weekend their City Health Office (CHO) is continuing to provide measles vaccination after an outbreak was declared in the city last month.
Cordova confirmed a total of 6,493 city residents, mostly children, have been vaccinated.
She noted, a meeting between the CHO and Kabankalan City Mayor Isidro Zayco is being planned in order to determine if vaccines have been fully distributed to all city barangays.
Cordova also clarified, the local CHO currently has recorded three confirmed cases of measles in the city.
Last month, Zayco declared an outbreak after tests found all three patients positive for measles.
The Department of Health (DOH) also declared an outbreak in neighboring Negros Oriental, where health officials believe the cases may have been sparked by children who were not immunized or whose immunizations were “incomplete.”/DGB, WDJ
