The Iloilo City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO) and its Iloilo City Emergency Responders (ICER) team were recently transferred to a new building at Motorpool, located along Delgado Street in the City Proper district.
The CDRRMO was previously located at the rear of the Freedom Grandstand, which is currently up for demolition.
Meanwhile, ICER, which is the CDRRMO division responsible for creating disaster risk reduction plans, programs, and activities, along with responding to medical emergencies, is looking to develop further.
“ICER is trying to reinvent itself,” said Emergency Response head Darwin Papa. “CDRRMO has already strengthened itself and, now, the thrust of the office is to strengthen and renew the expertise of the emergency medical team.”
He added, CDRRMO will develop responder skills on vehicular extrication, utilizing more sophisticated equipment, search and rescue during earthquakes, among other special operation procedures./WDJ
