A joint operation by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) and Negros Occidental Highway Patrol Group (HPG) apprehended four suspected colorum vans in Bacolod City last Friday.

According to provincial HPG spokesperson, Senior Police Officer 3 (SPO3) Pat Belarmino, the four were caught accepting passengers despite not having the required legal documents and franchise to operate.

Belarmino said the operation was conducted following an earlier mandate issued by President Rodrigo Duterte calling for the seizure of colorum vehicles, following the deadly bus accident in Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro, which claimed the lives of 19 people and injured 21 others.

Belarmino added, operators of the four vehicles face hefty fines, while the colorum vehicles are presently impounded at the LTFRB-Bacolod office./DGB, WDJ
