The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) recently issued a warning to local businessmen operating in Negros informing them the agency will be intensifying their campaign against establishments that are not paying taxes correctly, particularly in Bacolod City.
“Despite our warnings, some are still not issuing sales invoices to customers,” said BIR-Region 12 (BIR-12) Director Eduardo Pagulayan, Jr.
Earlier this year, three branches of a Bacolod City establishment Blyzer Trading were shut down for the “under-declaration” of sales and the non-issuance of sales invoices.
The operation was conducted under the BIR’s “Oplan Kandado,” which suspends the operations of non-compliant businesses and enforces the closure of establishments violating tax laws.
Blyzer Trading has since paid a P3 million penalty and was allowed to reopen last month./DGB, WDJ
