Following the recent arrest of Jonel Lancisco Cortez, also known as Gregg C. Macaraig, who was apprehended for engaging in fraudulent marketing activities offering bogus discount cards for transportation, accommodations, among other supposed benefits, Department of Tourism-Region VI (DOT-6) director, Atty. Helen J. Catalbas, put out a release affirming the arrested individual was not associated with the agency.
“[Cortez] is not in any way or connected or has been temporarily employed with [DOT-6],” the release declared.
The department released the advisory to ensure there were no doubts surrounding the regional agency’s credibility.
“We encourage the public to be very vigilant and report immediately to proper authorities if and when they encounter individuals or groups who might be acting in the same manner as the above-mentioned subject,” the letter added./WDJ
