Following the recent approval by President Rodrigo Duterte to close resort destination Boracay for six months, beginning April 26, the Boracay Foundation, Inc. (BFI) questioned how a shutdown would be implemented.
“In the absence of clear guidelines communicated to us, we believe it is too premature for us to issue specific statements pertaining to the closure,” the group said. “BFI is just as confused as everyone else.”
They posed a series of questions seeking clarification on specific rehabilitation plans, tax collection on shuttered establishments, assistance for businesses in repaying loans, utility operations, financial support for displaced workers, among other concerns.
Malay Town Councilor Nenette Aguirre-Graf, who serves as BFI president, earlier said the closure decision left many unhappy./WDJ
