A resolution establishing the Manokan Country Inasal Festival passed the Bacolod City Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) yesterday on its third reading.
The legislation, authored by City Councilor Em Ang, referred to the local delicacy as “intangible cultural heritage” and said the festival would help promote the local chicken inasal industry.
The planned site for the festival would be between Rizal-Ferrero Streets and Burgos-Ferrero Streets, including the entire Manokan Country complex, located just outside SM City Bacolod.
According to the resolution, the festival will require P2 million, which would be managed by a special committee.
If passed, the festival will take place in the first week of May.
Last month, Ang said she believes the event will become as big as the annual MassKara Festival, which takes place in October./WDJ
