The Bacolod City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO) yesterday announced there were no reported drowning incidents in the city during last Sunday’s Easter celebrations.
CDRRMO head Dondon Parandas credited the result to the maximum deployment of rescue groups, which covered nearly all of the city’s beach resorts.
He estimated more than 2,000 people visited city beaches last Sunday.
He also pointed out, unlike other local government units, where they imposed a temporary liquor ban to prevent drownings, Parandas said they did not recommend such restrictions to the city government.
The city official also assured all reports were in compliance with City Ordinance 749, which requires resort owners to have lifeguards on duty and life saving equipment on the premises./DGB, WDJ
