During this year’s Holy Week, two people died in separate accidents across Panay.

Bennie Dable, the 50-year-old bodyguard of Mayor Jonathan Tan of Pandan, Antique, died after the speed boat he was on, carrying Tan’s entourage, including actresses Bianca Manalo and Ehra Madrigal, capsized off the coast of Sebaste on Maundy Thursday.

Five others were rescued.

Meanwhile, in Dingle, Iloilo, 44-year-old Onik Celo drowned in a river during Black Saturday.

Police found the victim was drunk when he left his friends and tried to cross to the other side of the river.

There were also numerous car accidents in other parts of the island during the religious observance./WDJ
