The younger brother of wanted drug lord Ramy Poja was arrested early Thursday morning in anti-drug operation along Murcia Road in Barangay Singcang-Airport, Bacolod City.
Police identified the suspect as 36-year-old Rex Poja, a resident of the city’s Barangay Estefania and currently tagged by the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) as a “high-value target.”
Also arrested in the said raid was 43-year-old Mario Ferrer, the alleged right-hand man for Poja and a resident of Barangay Banago.
CDEU team leader, Police Inspector Adrian James Albaytar, said Poja was involved in the illegal drugs business before they began pursuing his elder brother, who escaped from a joint police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) raid in Barangay Banago last February.
Albaytar said the arrest was made at Poja’s pick-up truck after he handed one sachet of suspected shabu worth P1,000 to an undercover cop.
A search of the vehicle yielded six more sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated value of P250,000.
Poja and Ferrer are presently detained at Police Station 8 and face charges for possession and the sale of illegal drugs./DGB, WDJ
