Kakampi Mo Ang Batas
By Atty. Batas Mauricio
“…Do not conform any longer to the patterns of this world. Be transformed by the renewing of your minds…” –Romans 12:2
Two years have quickly gone by since President Rodrigo Duterte was named the undisputed leader of the country, with his popularity rating continually on the rise. He continued to solidify his status as more Filipinos come out in support of his noble objectives to make the Philippines a better place, including the establishment of a revolutionary government, or “RevGov,” and changing the country’s system of government from a presidential form to a federal form.
Just about a week ago, several members of the PDP-Laban, the president’s party, bolted from their ranks, alongside other like-minded citizens who would like to see Duterte continues his programs for change, focused on unity, justice, peace and order, and economic prosperity, and set up Unyon ng mga Pederalistang ang Adhikain ay Katarungan, Kapayapaan, at Kaunlaran (UPAKKK) – loosely translated as Union of Federalists whose objectives are Justice, Peace and Order and Prosperity.
Domingo Canero, a former PDP Laban member from Quezon City, leads UPAKKK. According to him, the movement is supported by 40,000 members of another pro-Duterte group, the Hukbong Federal ng Pilipinas (HFP), which claims to have national and worldwide support.
Canero added, UPAKKK seeks to serve as an umbrella organization for those who believe the president should establish RevGov, similar to that established by Corazon Aquino in 1986. After assuming office, she established a revolutionary government to firm up the ouster of her predecessor, former President Ferdinand Marcos (largely aided by the United States).
The organization is anchored on the view that only Duterte, at this point, has shown sincerity and faithfulness in finding solutions to the serious and debilitating problems of the Philippines, particularly illegal drugs and corruption.
UPAKK also expressed gratitude that Duterte was even proclaimed president in 2016, considering the prior administration, working in concert with then-Commission on Elections officials, tried to cheat him from the position. This fact has led group leaders to believe the president was sent by God, in an effort for the nation to prevail against drugs, criminality, and corruption.
According to group leaders, “He can only do this if he puts up a revolutionary government.”
UPAKKK membership open to Filipinos both at home and abroad
During an organizational meeting at my office in Diliman, Quezon City last week (photos can be viewed at facebook.com/attybatas), organizers clarified the reasons for the group’s creation, with treasurer Roy L. Canero saying the group will be identified by the famous “clenched fist” used by Duterte’s supporters.
However, instead of just raising a fist, UPAKKK members will also shout “Upak, mga Ka-Hukbo (Hit it hard, fellow force members),” signifying the sincerity of their objectives. They will “hit hard,” as it were, against illegal drugs, crime, and corruption in the way revolutionaries of the past, the Katipuneros, pursued independence, with “KKK” as their nomenclature.
Interested parties can contact Domingo Canero at 0921-755-6700. You can also get in touch with him through Facebook Messenger, under the chat group name “HFP.”
