A fisherman was declared dead after he accidentally drowned while fishing Sunday morning in Barangay Lantad, Silay City, Negros Occidental.

Police identified the fatality as 56-year-old Renator Aquino, a resident of the said barangay.

Silay City police investigators said Aquino’s son, Reneil, discovered the victim floating on his belly inside their fishing cage.

The younger Aquino immediately shouted for help and managed to pull his father’s remains from the fish cage.

Aquino was rushed to the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital, where he was later declared dead on arrival by the attending physician./DGB, WDJ
