Following last Tuesday’s mass wedding in Barangay Calumpang, located in the Molo district of Iloilo City, where 14 couples were married, the community said they hope to marry 100 couples this year.

Last year, a total 18 couples were married.

“We have noticed there are a lot of couples in our barangay who are living together and have children but were not married,” explained Barangay Calumpang Captain Roberto Niño. “We decided to organize a mass wedding for them.”

“This means a lot to them, especially those who cannot also afford to hold a wedding,” he added.

During the event the barangay provided free cake and wine.
