Barangay Calumpang, located in the Molo district of Iloilo City, will represent the Western Visayas in the highly urbanized city category of the 2018 National Search for Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Awards (LTIA), which recognizes barangay justice committees.

“Calumpang will receive a plaque and P50,000 development fund,” Department of the Interior and Local Government-Region VI (DILG-6) director, Atty. Anthony Nuyda wrote in a letter to Barangay Calumpang Captain Roberto Niño.

In response, the barangay official said, “I have seen how dedicated the Lupon members are and I am proud.”

The barangay has represented the region since 2013, winning second place in the national contest in 2016 and 2017.

Iloilo City Mayor Jose S. Espinosa III also congratulated the community, saying, he hopes the citation serves as inspiration for other neighborhoods to replicate the best practices./WDJ
