The Diocese of Bacolod yesterday relaunched Caritas Bacolod, which enables the delivery of basic social services to city’s needy.

Diocese of Bacolod Social Action Center (SAC) head, Rev. Fr. Chris Gonzales, said Caritas Bacolod was originally organized in 2008, during the time of Bishop Emeritus Vicente Navarra.

During the relaunch, Gonzales said SAC will distribute Caritas Cans for local companies, institutions, and offices within the diocese, where people can donate loose change or any amount of money.

Gonzales said the funds would be used by SAC, stating they receive walk-ins from different people seeking medicine, food, and fares for those who wish to return to their place of origin.

Funds from the cans will also be used to provide relief assistance whenever natural or man-made calamities occur./DGB, WDJ
