Until now, the official website of the Iloilo City government is not accessible.

Iloilo City Mayor Jose Espinosa III earlier explained the website’s inaccessibility is only temporary.

This is after two hacking incidents over the weekend by a group known as “Iloilo Blackhats.”

The first incident occurred last March 16.

The Blackhats were able to penetrate the dashboard for the Iloilo City Treasurer’s Office. The hacking incident compromised the data of an estimated 100 taxpayers.

By March 16, the Blackhats again struck and hacked the entire website.

Francis Cruz, head of the Information Technology (IT) department of the city government,  then ordered for temporary shutdown of the city government’s website to further deter compromising data on other areas of the website.

Meanwhile, the city government has also reached out to law enforcement agencies to track down the hackers./WDJ
