during anniversary observance

The Philippine Army 3rd Infantry Division (3ID) yesterday released a warning to the public of potential ‘atrocities’ associated with the upcoming New People’s Army (NPA) anniversary, set to take place next week, March 29.
3ID Commander, Brigadier General Dinoh Dolina, said the public should remain vigilant and take precautionary measures, as civilians are the NPA’s most vulnerable targets.
Dolina noted, the NPA is known to step up its terror and criminal activities against civilians, especially before and during its anniversary.
“Propagating atrocities against communities is like a requirement to them, [which] will serve as their ‘accomplishment report’ during their anniversary celebrations,” Dolina said.
He also released figures that showed, between 2010 and 2017, the NPA in Negros murdered a total 46 civilians.
In 2016, the rebels killed 16 civilians./DGB, WDJ
