BTTHS relegated to Division 2 by NU

Bacolod Tay Tung High School (BTTHS) lost to National University (NU), 81-63, last Monday in the 2018 National Basketball Training Center (NBTC) National Finals Round of 32 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

The loss relegated the Bacolod City-based school to the Division 2 playoffs.

Despite a 10-0 by BTTHS in the first five minutes of play, NU managed to take the lead and closed the first period up 18-13. They would go on to maintain their lead, going in the half with a 39-33 advantage.

By the second half, NU continued to extend their lead, ending the third period ahead, 57-44.

Carl Tamayo led the win with 18 points, followed by Rhayyan Amsali with 14.

Following relegation, BTTHS narrowly defeated Notre Dame of Midsayap College, 64-62.

In response to the loss, BTTHS coach Dexter Dy said, “We showed that we can compete with the best schools in the country.”/JSG, WDJ
