Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia recently met with Philippine National Police (PNP) Director-General Ronald deal Rosa at PNP headquarters at Camp Crame, where the mayor submitted a report on the city’s ongoing campaign against illegal drugs.

The mayor affirmed the report were based on data gathered by the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC) and the Community Anti-Drug Coalition of Bacolod (CADCOB), a people’s organization that contributed to the war against drugs.

Leonardia also pointed out the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) selected Bacolod City to host the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (IDADAIT) observance last year.

DDB was very impressed with the 17,000 Bacoleños who participated in the early morning walk and program.

“The focus of our city’s anti-drugs campaign is the barangays,” Leonardia said in a letter to the PNP official. “We will chase drug pushers out of the barangays; rehabilitate drugs users; and provide them knowledge, skills, and livelihood.”

Meanwhile, RehabiNasyon, the national campaign aimed at eliminating illegal drugs throughout the country by encouraging drug users to enter rehabilitation, was launched in Bacolod City earlier this month during an event at the Bacolod City Government Center, which included an address by PCOO Assistant Secretary Ramon L.
