Around 200 bikers took the road in northern Iloilo town for Joanna Diana Demafelis, the Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) who died in Kuwait.

Organizer and bike enthusiast Febe Morales said the March 18, 2018 ride from Barotac Viejo municipality to Demafelis’ hometown of Sara aims to help sustain the momentum in the call for justice.

A reporter for Aksyon Radyo Iloilo, Morales said that the issue has died down after Demafelis was buried last March 3.

“Isa ini sa nakita namon nga paagi para at least ma-sige-sige ang panawagan sang gobyerno kag sa Presidente nga dapat mahatagan sang hustisya si Joanna,” Morales said.

While main suspects Nader Essam Assaf and his wife Mona Hassoun have been arrested, it is unclear whether they have been extradited to Kuwait.

The bike-for-a-cause was joined by members of Northern Iloilo Mountain Bikers Association, Solid North Pathfinders Bikers Club, Leganes Bikers Club, the Barbarian Cycling Club, Santa Barbara Trail Seekers, Roadbikers, and Team Bolong.

Iloilo Gov. Arthur Defensor, Sr. also backed it./WDJ
