Negrense wins Vietnam chess tournament

Victorias City-native Michael Ocido recently won the 8th HDBank Cup International Open Chess Tournament, which took place at the Army Hotel in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Ocido won with 7.5 points, earning a trophy and a $1,200 cash prize.

Other Negrenses also took place in the competition, with Recarte Tiauson of Talisay City taking third place, followed by Fédération Internationale des Échecs (FIDE) Master Nelson Villanueva of La Carlota City in fourth place./JSG, WDJ
