The Iloilo City Veterinarian Office recently began their mass anti-rabies vaccination program in barangays Bonifacio and Yulo Drive, located in Iloilo City’s Arevalo District.
“We must protect our dogs through vaccination,” said Iloilo City Mayor Jose Espinosa III.
Vaccinations had already taken place in barangays Quezon and San Jose yesterday; Barangay Dulonan today; and Barangay Sooc on March 20.
According to RA 9482, or Anti Rabies Act of 2007, those who refuse vaccinating their pet will be held liable if an individual is bitten and infected with rabies. Violators will be assessed a fine and are responsible for the cost of vaccinations to both the animal and the individual bitten.
The event is in observance of Rabies Awareness Month, which takes place throughout March./WDJ
