The Sangguniang Bayan (SB) of Concepcion, Iloilo will probe the alleged sub-standard housing project for “Yolanda” survivors.

Sangguniang Bayan Member Mark Villaruz said it has invited the government’s National Housing Authority (NHA) and private contractor Hercar Construction Corp. to attend its hearing next week.

The “Yolanda” housing site has been slammed by beneficiaries, who claimed that the houses provided are in a very poor state. Its roofs are leaky, the windows and doors are incomplete; weak wall partitions; and incomplete comfort rooms.

While NHA-6 Regional Project Manager Luz Ysatam claimed there will be a dialogue on March 24, the beneficiaries are getting angry because there is no real action to fix the problem. They said that the NHA already conducted dialogues in the past and it’s all just assurance.

On the other hand, some SB members have been accused of allegedly receiving money from Hercar so they will not raise the issue of the sub-standard housing project. Villaruz denies this./WDJ
