The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) said they are prepared for any incident as the New People’s Army (NPA) is scheduled to celebrate its founding anniversary on March 29.

NOPPO director, Police Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Castil, Jr., said police in the province remain on “full alert status” and they will not lower their guard in the event of possible attacks and other lawless acts perpetrated by the group.

Castil also appealed for the cooperation of the public and told everyone to work together and end the “long suffering from the senseless war” and unnecessary loss of life.

The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP), the umbrella organization for the NPA, celebrated its 49th founding anniversary last December 26. At the time, the national government declared a ceasefire that expired at 11:59 p.m. that day./DGB, WDJ
