Two people are confirmed dead while another was wounded following a shooting incident during a cockfight in Barangay Concepcion, Talisay City, Sunday afternoon.
Police identified the fatalities as 62-year-old Isagani Dalisay and 29-year-old Jesrel Tarrasuna, both residents of the said barangay. Meanwhile, the wounded was identified as 35-year-old Maricel Ferrer, a resident of Barangay Mandalagan in Bacolod City.
Talisay City police chief, Police Superintendent Adonis Rosales, said one of the suspects, Jojo Panes, engaged in an argument with Tarrasuna.
The argument escalated to a fistfight, where the other suspect, Noel Padol, allegedly pulled out a .45 caliber firearm and shot Tarrasuna in the chest, killing him instantly.
Dalisay and Ferrer were shot after finding themselves in Padol’s line of fire.
Both were rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital to receive treatment, but Dalisay passed away en route to the hospital.
Police recovered three empty .45 caliber cartridges from the crime scene.
Rosales noted Panes surrendered yesterday morning, while they are still looking for Padol.
Both suspects face two counts of murder, along with frustrated homicide./DGB, WDJ
