Negros Occidental Provincial Health Office (PHO) head, Dr. Ernell Tumimbang, said amid the ongoing outbreak in neighboring Negros Oriental, they are targeting 95 percent measles immunization coverage in the province.
According to Tumimbang, the current immunization performance is currently at 69 percent, with Kabankalan City leading the list in the province.
He added they have further strengthened their immunization drive, especially in areas of the province where performance is low.
Over the weekend, PHO confirmed they are monitoring four suspected measles cases in Kabankalan City.
Tumimbang said the patients are composed of an eight-month-old child, a 10-year-old girl, a 22-year-old woman, and a 38-year-old man.
PHO has been on alert since the Negros Oriental Department of Health declared a measles outbreak in the province earlier this month./DGB, WDJ
