A complaint letter regarding an “excessive and incompetent power supply agreement” between the Central Negros Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Ceneco) and the Korean Electric Power Corporation-Salcon Power Corporation (Kepco-SPC) earlier filed by local advocacy group Power Watch Negros (PWN) has recently been endorsed to the National Electrification Administration (NEA) and the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC).

PWN Secretary-General Wennie Sancho said he hopes both the NEA and ERC investigate the allegations and punish those responsible for making Ceneco consumers pay for the power supply they did not use.

Last November, Sancho sent a letter to President Rodrigo Duterte urging him to intervene in the matter.

In the letter, he appealed for the president to conduct an investigation into the P232 million in “unpaid, unaccepted contract quantity of Ceneco with [Kepco-SPC];” an amount the ERC earlier allowed the Bacolod City utility co-op to collect from member-consumers.

Ceneco President Roy Cordova, meanwhile, previously said he is open to hearings over the matter./DGB, WDJ
