Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Director-General Guiling Mamondiong recently touted the recent Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) enrollment event, which took place across the country last week.
Region VI registered the fifth highest number of registrants with 17,812. Region III came in first with 27,248.
Based on TESDA records, as of Wednesday, 192,652 individuals have enrolled in the agency’s free vocational courses.
“Sa mga panahon ngayon hindi na sapat ang may pinag-aralan lang, kailangan ay meron din tayong skills (In these times, an education is not enough, skills are needed),” Mamondiong said.
According to TESDA, the most in-demand coursework includes driving, computer system servicing, bread and pastry making, cooking, and dressmaking.
In addition, the Jobs Bridging Project, which also took place last week, saw nearly 3,000 applicants hired on the spot during a jobs fair that featured 870 companies./PLL, WDJ
