Based on data from the Iloilo City Population Office (CPO), teen pregnancy is on the decline. The office noted a drop from 2,266 cases recorded in 2015 to 1,327 cases in 2017.
“We are happy to report that there is a decreasing trend on the number of cases,” said CPO head Mary Ann A. Ramos.
She credited the health program intervention, a project of the CPO and the Iloilo City Health Office (CHO), for the decline.
The CPO head also pointed out “Adolescent Day,” which takes place every Friday at local health clinics.
Last year, the Bacolod City Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) passed a resolution urging the Bacolod CHO and CPO to conduct intensified family planning campaigns throughout the city, citing data from the Philippine Statistics Authority that found teenage mothers comprised 11 percent of all pregnancies nationwide./PLL, WDJ
