The Bacolod City Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) recently passed an ordinance increasing the amount of burial assistance provided by the city government for low-income families, amending City Ordinance No. 384, Series of 2005, which initially established the said assistance program.

The ordinance, penned by City Councilor Wilson Gamboa, Jr., calls for a P3,500 grant, an increase from P1,500.

The adjustment also increases the Burial Financial Assistance Program Fund, or the annual budget set aside for the program, from P300,000 to P7 million.

The city government provided burial assistance to 30 individuals earlier this week./PLL, WDJ
